I realize that this is my first post for the year. Believe it or not, I have been a busy bee. I just opened a present I received from my mother 9 years ago. I asked for it, she bought it, and I opened the box for the first time a couple of months ago. It was a sewing machine! I can't believe I waited so long to open the box. I thought I could read the directions and figure out how to thread the machine and go at it. I opened the first page on threading the machine and I immediately hit a brick wall . . . what in the world is a bobbin? I knew I had to take a class. I took a very basic sewing class and a few days later, I brought out some fabric and covered our windows in the dining area. It went from this:
Since I can't cut a straight line even if my life depended on it, I used a "laser beam" :-)
But the end result was . . .
Covered windows . . . no cows peeking through the bushes at us at night while we eat!
There's still a lot to get done. Pay no attention to the lighting floating way above the table. It's one of those things that will be going away soon. I want to paint the chairs a fun color. As for the curtains, they were a temporary fix and my first real sewing project. They're not perfect, but they will do for now. Once I received the fabric, I wasn't crazy about how bright and busy the pattern is. I only seem to like the fabric when the curtains are open . . . wide open. Now that I know what a bobbin is, I have quite a few sewing projects coming up soon so stay tuned.
